My work is about
connecting our multi layered identity with the
infrastructure of our cityscapes. I utilise historical photographic
collections as my source and aid for my paintings. The symbolic images I
create explore the character of cityscapes and geographical design of
the landscape. An intangible narrative involved with an internal search
for a sense of place on a planet that is in stark contrast to its own
organic nature.
My imagery represents and reflects places of power,
status, culture, hierarchy and heritage. We seek out our own avenues of
conscious and subconscious to find an identity that replicates our own
sense of sanctuary and security within these cityscapes.
I employ a wide variety of mediums within my imagery that
enables me to create intriguing compositions. The beguiling appearance
of rooftops and skylines that is so delightful against the back drop of
wonderful skies has always intrigued me. These scenes can often be
visually chaotic but reflect the infrastructure within cities.
